The text written by Andrew Solomon is very striking and revealing. As he suffered from depression his accounts are very convincing, very strong and devastating. Solomon knew depression closely and knew how it worked, but he only had his own experience as a source, he wanted to know what depression was like for other people around the world.

For this reason, he decided to travel to many different countries around the world and interviewing people and asking about their experiences with depression. Solomon was impressed by all the different interpretations people had about depression and how it affected their lives. Part B of Solomon's account highlights these interviews and how solomon was impressed by people's accounts.
