    I believe the right answer to be C.

    Explanation:

    First of all, the word 'search' is literally in the word research. 'Re' means to check again or redo. So, 'research' means to search again.

    For more evidence:

    It isn't A because ... well, I hope you know it's not A.

    It isn't D because researching something is NOT taking a break from your work. It's the opposite, really.

    So, between B and C, I believe C to be the better answer.
