In what way did Brian's past science lessons come in handy? How did he apply this knowledge to his pursuit of fire?

    In chapter 9 of the hatchet Brian is trying to build a fire and he is having no luck until he remembers his past science lessons. He remembers that the fire needs oxygen in order to grow. He uses this knowledge to blow on the fire as it starts thus feeding the flames and making a real fire.
