    In this excerpt, the author does not mention any scientist in particular, or praises the work of modern scientists in general. Additionally, he does not claim that these discoveries were federally funded, or provide any critique towards societies that do not encourage science. He, however, does hint towards the idea of the Age of Discovery being over by saying that the main discoveries in these three areas have already been achieved.
