You can interpret the Old Man and the Sea as a trip though the mind. Any mind for that's matter, I see this through the way the old man looks through his past as he is fishing.
It can also be interpreted as the working class citizen or be low struggles through hardship to achieve one big thing but is soon taken away by the sharks of our world, they take that's one good thing that's has took so long for us to achieve and tear it to abreast before our very eyes.
