    D. The ship carries supplies for starting a new colony and are useful for the family.

Even though the ship carries the belongings of the family, those things would be considered trivial and not very vital for survival. Even goods that were intended to be sold would not be as important to supplies for starting a new colony because supplies that were intended to be used to begin a new colony would have been intended for the use by those who would have been away from civilization and needed to be self-reliant as the Swiss Family Robinson becomes after the shipwreck.
