    Paine understood their current, youthful soldiers would be more motivated to accomplish their goal (whether that was fighting in a battle, spreading their knowledge, or training) as well as their comparatively new established communities had almost nothing to lose. Whereas if their elder opponent lost, they would suffer a bigger deal.
