The Star Trek television shows are a series of shows that have had the most influence on our modern culture. This is known as "The Star Trek Effect". The Star Trek series has had the greatest impact on all forms of entertainment of all time.
The original Star Trek series was shown in the 1960s. It has since spawned five follow-up television series, twelve movies, a plethora of merchandise, and a multi-billion dollar industry known as the Star Trek franchise. The series is now owned by CBS Television Studios.
