Well, it is ironic that Duncan praises the atmosphere in the castle because both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are greedy for the power that his position entails. When he praises the hospitality of his hostess, he doesn't realize that she is hospitable and that she invited him into her castle so that she and Macbeth could kill him so that Macbeth could become king in his place.

It's pretty much ironic because he is unaware of the things happening behind the scenes.
