Verify the resaonableness of inferential meaning.

A. To infer something from a story is to draw conclusions based on something that the author states directly.

B. To infer something from a story is to draw conclusions based on something that the author did not state directly.

C. To infer something from a story is to convey experiences, events, setting, and/or characters.

D. To infer something from a story is not convey experiences, events, setting, and/or characters

    I'd say to infer from a story is to draw conclusions based on things that the author doesn't state directly. If two characters are speaking, I may be able to infer that one is an adult woman and the other is a young boy just by what they say even if it's not directly referred to.
