    According to a source the excerpt explains that death is definitely the theme of Thanatopsis of William Cullen Bryant. Thanatos means death and Opsis means view. Basically, a view of death. The poem talks about death across different times and places. At the end of the poem, death is not something to worry about.

    These lines.

    " Thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night, Scourged to his dungeon, but, sustained and soothed By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave"

    There's also a part that it talks about life. The first few lines " TO HIM who in the love of Nature holds Communion with her visible forms, she speaks A various language; for his gayer hours"
