Let me add, that it is the great desideratum, by which this form of Government can be rescued from the opprobrium under which it has so long labored, and be recommended to the esteem and adoption of mankind.

A) to sacrifice self-interest for the common good

B) to allow greater liberty to act in one's own self-interest

C) to eliminate the existence of factions whatever the cost

D) to guard against the influence of factions while preserving liberty
