According to Rachel Carson in Silent Spring, the use of DDT, a pesticide that kills mosquitoes, is harmful for animals, plants, and humans.

She claims that the pesticide sprayed on air does not only kill mosquitoes but it also gives out toxins to the living organisms that are exposed to it. And the more chemicals it adds to make it more potent in killing pests, the more harmful it is to other animals like birds which become collateral damage.
