    C.) he can't believe she is real

    why? Because he still believes that his romantic fantasy can come true between him and daisy but once he sees Daisy's child he immediately sees that it may be impossible.

    He can't believe she is real.

    Gatsby and I in turn leaned down and took the small, reluctant hand. Afterward he kept looking at the child with surprise. I don’t think he had ever really believed in its existence before.
