I would say that the best answer is A. An elderly neighbor.

The appeal frequently refers to the past with such phrases as "in the past" or "nowadays". The other options would not be as effective as an elderly neighbor would be. An elderly person would have a better sense of what the meat "used to" taste like and how things were back in the day. Using references to time may incite a feeling of nostalgia in older audiences and make people want a return to the old days.
