The answer is by showing that both the upper and lower classes have evolved into degraded forms. The Eloi may be perfect and beautiful but they have grown lazy, weak and fearful of the Morlocks who though appear primitive are very aggressive. The Eloi for all the beauty of their civilization are at the mercy of the Morlocks.
