Mother/Father: created a child using their own DNA (eggs, sperm)

Biological parents: raises the child they created using their own DNA

Adopted parents: raises a child they purchased through a private agency or adopted from foster care that they didn't/couldn't create using their own DNA.

Another way adoptive parents can get children is through buying eggs/sperm. Some people buying the sperm/eggs rent another womans' uterus b/c they don't have a uterus or its dysfunctional or just don't want to go through labor and get stretch marks.

Foster parents: Many are rental parents in essence but many hope to adopt if they bond with the child. Many foster parents just foster kids for supplemental income and don't plan on adopting. Some are in it to adopt but just foster until a child they prefer comes along, a parent relinquishes or has their parental rights taken away.
