The press could be involved in any of these, but I think C is the best choice. Why C? Because the phrase "yellow journalism" was coined during the Spanish-American War. This phrase refers to facts that has been skewed or made up in order to further a goal. In this case, I think a ship was fired on or some explosion happened.
