Healthcare costs in the United States are on the rise. Some people say that a universal healthcare system would bring costs down and increase access to care. Others say it would be too expensive and would reduce the quality of care. Examine editorials from both sides of the argument. Then write a paragraph in which you compare and contrast each argument in terms of objectivity and the types of evidence presented. Evaluate and explain how the sources use effective evidence to support their claims. Write your compare-and-contrast paragraph.

Universal healthcare brings down medicinal services costs for an economy. The administration controls the cost of medicine and medical services by regulation and negotiation. It unites everything under one health insurer and brings down the administrative costs. This also makes billing procedures and coverage rules uniform making clerical and administrative work lesser. This will make hospitals and medical practitioners to provide the same exact standard service for the same cost. This system will create a healthier health system by reducing competition. The key is to standardise everything and reduce unnecessary specialised care to prevent exploitation of medical expenses. Another great advantage to this is the focus on early childhood care. If done right, early childhood care reduces chances for expensive medical expenses in the future. Also, the universal health system includes the population in its effort to make healthcare cheaper by creating regulations for the general public to make healthier lifestyle choices.

Universal healthcare system will make many necessary revisions and standardizations that will be costly. In the long run the returns will be better because it will simplify everything. Also, the quality of care will improve instead because the mode of care will be more focused. General care and prevention will be promoted for all while specialised care, once identified to be deemed fit depending on the case will be performed. A more focused plan of care is more effective and less costly than a general formula of care for all. The benefits outweigh the initial expenses. Moreover, this will lead to maximised budget and more efficient spending on healthcare. This was already proven with countries such as Canada, Australia, France, Germany and Switzerland.
