What's a word to describe someone who does something simply for the influence of other people?

For example, someone who wants to befriend a popular girl just so they can become popular and liked by everyone.

What's the word to describe these kind of people?

    You would generally call a person like that a follower, because they hang out with people who she thinks would make her cooler or more liked. Therefore she is following their lead.
