When Odysseus left for Troy and was gone for a long period of time, suitors began to court Penelope. The attention she was getting was unwanted from the men, so she came up with a brilliant plan. She said to her suitors; once I am done weaving I will choose one of you to marry. That seemed to shut them up and they went on with their day with satisfaction. Little did they know, Penelope was very sly. Each day she would weave, but every night she would un-weave. Leaving the blanket unfinished at all times. once the little trick was found out, the men were infuriated! The men all refused to leave the palace until Penelope chose one of them to marry. In that time they wasted all of Odysseus's estate, on parties and banquets. Odysseus's and his son Telemachus put their heads together and formed a plan to kill the suitors. Odysseus disguised himself as a beggar and entered the palace. Penelope then told the suitors "If you can bend his bow and shoot, then I will marry one of you." A contest was then arranged and the suitors could not string a bow, so, Odysseus grabbed the bow and shot all of them down.
