Compare and contrast the egalitarian society to modern society

In egalitarian society, everybody is equal - there are no differences in wealth, power, status, etc. the way they exist in a modern society. In modern society, however, usually if you work hard, you become successful - whereas in an egalitarian society, no matter how hard you work, you will always be the same as everyone else.
