What is the preferred rifle shot for larger game animals, such as elk or bear? rear-end quartering-toward broadside head-on

    Rear-end would wound them and could hardly hit any vital organs that would instantly kill them. Head-on can be bad for smaller caliber weapons in cases of bears because they have an extremely thick skull and the bullet might just ricochet.
