This question is based from "Shooting an Elephant" an essay which was written by George Orwell. And based on this essay, the problem with the original plan of the narrator in approaching the elephant and shoot only if it is needed is that he is worried that small children will be injured by the elephant. It wasn't really the narrator's intention to shoot the elephant. The gun was only there for self protection. The answer would be option A.
