C. There are several things an author can do to show that one character fears another. The tool that this author uses is to have Willie Thomas stuttering (starting the sound of words and repeating that sound before getting the full word out) when he is speaking to Mr Logan. This shows that he is nervous, and his nerves probably come from his fear of Mr Logan.
