Tom suggested we sign up for the ice hockey team. Easy for him to say! Sure, let me go dazzle the opponent with my awkward, unsteady skating. Better yet, let me play goalie. I'm sure that a stuffed mannequin would stop more goals than I could. "You can go ahead," was all I said.

What is the meaning behind the sarcasm in this passage?

A. The speaker really wants to join the ice hockey team.

B. The speaker thinks the opponent will be impressed with his skating.

C. The speaker has little confidence in his ability to play hockey.

D. The speaker is jealous of Tom's athletic ability.
