Satan thought he could be of greater power than God. Satan thinks of God as a challenge yet he is also scared of God.

This is a personal question, since many feel differently. Plus, we can't exaclty know since we are not satan.
But if you ask me, he knows he is inferior to him. But would like to be seen as superior. He wants to make many people on earth serve him, by doing things god doent approve of.
Then again, many feel differently
