Hydroelectric power plants change the kinetic energy found in moving bodies of water into electricity. The water behind the dams, or the reservoir, is placed higher then the water after the dam, known as the outflow river. Voltage is created in moving conductors by an effect called electromagnetic induction. The kinetic energy in the spinning turbines becomes electrical energy. This way the transformations occur in a hydroelectric plant
