Why was the UN predecessor, the League of Nations, ineffective?

    I think the majority of the reason is because they did not establish themselves as the authoritative that would settled the conflict between nations.

    They failed to do anything effective on the suez canal crisis and they failed to prevent the outbreak of world war II
