Continental lithosphere versus oceanic lithosphere

    Continental lithosphere consists of mostly silica and alumina or it is called the 'sial' whereas the oceanic lithosphere is mostly 'sima' or silica and magnesium so in other words the compositions of the two lithospheres is rather different.
