Nations with higher incomes have longer life expectancies partly because their general living conditions are better ie they are better fed, clothed and housed than in nations with lower incomes. Taking the example of homeless people or those living in shacks are exposed to the elements ie heat and cold, rain and snow, and also they are most likely not to have running water or sewer so they can be susceptible to diseases such as cholera. Also, people with higher incomes are more likely to be able to afford exercise facilities and get regular exercise.
