After the removal of the homes and business off the flood plain, the land was sold to the state of North Dakota and the money was used to rebuild Grand Forks.

The third-largest city in North Dakota is Grand forks and the 2010 census put the city population at 52,838. The census also pegged the population of the city including the surrounding area to be 98,461.

Grand forks and Minnesota make up the center of the Grand Forks. It is a city that is situated on the Red River of the North, which is also within a flat region also known as the Red River valley.
