TuvIf you start at the equator and travel to 10° N, approximately how many kilometers (or miles) north of the equator will you be? Take the circumference of Earth to be 40,000 kilometers (24,900 miles).

    We shall divide the circumference into 360. That will give us the value of distance covered for each degree along latitude.

    1°N = 40000 / 360

    = 111.11 km

    10° N = 111.11 x 10

    = 1111.11 km
