    Extrusive igneous, or volcanic, rocks are formed when magma flows to the Earth's surface and erupts or flows over the Earth's surface in the form of lava; and then it cools and forms the rocks.

    Intrusive rocks are those that are formed from a slow cooling, at great depth and in large masses of magma.
