    The regions of Southern Europe enjoys the Mediterranean climate as it is located near the Mediterranean Sea.

    Explanation:

    The Mediterranean Sea was important for the Roman empire as it acted as a link of trade with other portion of the empire mainly the Middle East and the North Africa. According to the Romans they referred the Mediterranean Sea as their own sea and they were not ready to allow any other empire to flourish mainly the Greeks and the Egyptians.

    Mediterranean sea in today's era also play the important role by acting as a link for trade. Various trade networks occur that are normally used as an overland route. Thus the trade has increased that is beneficial for southern Europe.
