Water's high heat capacity allows the ocean water to be:

Cooler than the land around it.

    Explanation:

Water has high heat capacity of 4.18 J/g ° C, i. e. it consumes more amount heat to warm gram of water. water has the ability to absorb more heat. During warm summer day, the water temperature in the oceans does not change that much as compared to the land. Land on the other hand has much low heat capacity, so it is more warmer.

For this reason, the ocean takes a longer time to increase temperature whereas land will heat quickly. The air which is in contact with the oceans will be cooler. Therefore, the ocean water is cooler than the land around it.
