The Laurentian Uplands are highlands that are part of the Canadian Shield. They occupy the region from Minnesota and Ontario in the United States, across the northeastern part of the United States and southeastern part of Canada. This large plateau is very old, in fact it is part of one of the oldest crusts in the world. The majority of it is composed of metamorphic, igneous, and sedimentary rocks that date to the Precambrian. Because of its age, and the good preservation of it through the millions of years, this region is abundant with lot of different types of ores and minerals of very high quality.
