    It is decidedly false.

    I live near a small community of 6000. It has 5 gas stations. The price is fixed. It does not matter where you go, you will get the same amount of gas for the same price.

    Gas in our province is deregulated. That only gives the gas companies the right to collude. I'm sure they just phone each other up and ask what price they should use for today's cost.
