    Caboniferous period lasted from around 360 to 300 million years ago. The term Carboniferous means rich deposits of coal. The deposits of coals occured in different region of Europe, Asia and Africa, including South China. In the start of the period, the average temperate was 20°C° which was dropped to 12° in the middle of the period. This cooling and drying resulted in Carboniferous rainforest. Hence, the temperature was warmer than it is today.
