How does earth's orbit influence climate on earth

It gives us the seasons, as earth's axis is not perpendicular to the sun, so when the northern hemisphere is closer its summer there and winter in the southern hemisphere, then when the southern hemisphere is closer it switches round, the southern hemisphere has summer and the northern hemisphere has winter
