    A mountain range is a group or chain of mountains that are close together. Mountain ranges are usually separated from other mountain ranges by a pass or river. An example of a mountain range is the Himalayas mountains of Asia. A mountain system is a group of mountain ranges exhibiting certain unifying features, such as similarity in form, structure, and alignment and presumably be originating from the same general cause. An example of a mountain system is the Klamath mountains.
