How many major regions are contained within the diencephalon?

    The Diencephalon is part of a brain structure that transmits sensory information between the brain region, it also regulates autonomic functions of the peripheral nervous system. It contains three major regions which are the thalamus, epithalamus, and hypothalamus. Subthalamus is also a part of the diencephalon.
