Explain the relationship between continental drift and the formation of the Earth's Oceans?

    Well, when continents pull apart a rift valley forms filling up with ocean water. The Great Rift Valley is the best example; given enough time (millions of years) ocean water will come to flood that rift valley.

    I think that will cause a sea to appear next to the Persian Gulf.
