Latitude can't be measured in miles, because it's not a distance.
If you see or hear the statement that "latitude is measured in miles",
that statement is false.
Latitude is an angle. The only proper way to describe a latitude is in units
of angle. Angle units include radians, grads, etc. By far the most common
angle units used to describe latitude are degrees, minutes, and seconds.
