    Among the reasons for World War II were Italian dictatorship in the 1920s, Japanese militarism and attacks of China in the 1930s, and particularly the political takeover in 1933 of Germany by Hitler and his Nazi Party and its forceful outside strategy. After World War II, the division amongst eastern and western Europe was known as the Iron Curtain.
