The United States, Western European, Soviet Union and East Asian countries benefited most from the post war surge in material abundance where these experienced unusually high and sustained growth, together with the full employment. The high growth also includes countries that had been devastated by war such as Japan, West Germany and Austria, Taiwan, France, South Korea and Italy.
