1. Anne and Margot work out their "competition" over Peter van Daan by Margot letting them be. Margot as a person was too shy and she was a reserved girl. Meanwhile, Anne was outgoing and really friendly. Anne and Peter had a really good relationship and Margot had seen that Peter also liked Anne back, so she was the one who chose to back off.

2. The readers can discover that Margot and Anne had a very close-knitted relationship as sisters. From the letters, it can be inferred that they care about each other. The letters depict a concern that was touching from the sisters because they both treasure each other and wanted neither to be hurt.
