Why were there such a high death rate during the middle passage?

    Hello,

    I would believe there would be a high death rate during the middle passage or (the stage of the triangular trade) because people were coming back and forth from and to different countries; carrying diseases.

    Sailors had to travel to the African coast where diseases such as malaria and yellow fever occurred.
