    The correct answer is jaybird party

    Basically, they used to only have white candidates run for primaries in elections. When the supreme court said that this practice was unconstitutional, they decide to not have primaries but rather to preselect the candidate in order to avoid having African-american politicians join the primaries. This was an act of racism.
