What were the two staples crops of New France?

    Wheat and corn or maize were the staples of the region. Wheat, being introduced to the Americas was still a huge portion of the local diet. They ate bread daily and this filled in that need. Maize was still left over from the native population and was already well designed for the climate due to years of growth and adaptation
